SPOTTED: Empire of The Sun tour Europe in DEMOBAZA
The Australian astro pop stalwarts bring their celestial live experience to stages across the Old continent on the current leg of their Ask That God tour.
Eighteen years after exploding on the scene with their cosmic debut album, Empire of The Sun are coming back to Europe and the UK for twenty dates on their Ask That God tour. After returning to releasing new music in 2024 with the namesake album, the Australian indie/electropop sensation have been touring the old continent for the first time in six years.
As well as playing to sold-out crowds in Scandinavia, Central and West Europe, Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore included Sofia for the first time in their live schedule. Actually, their connection to Bulgaria runs deep. Before going on their latest tour, Empire’s very own emperor Luke Steele decided to have some DEMOBAZA’s signatures in the band’s and his personal stage wardrobe.
As seen on their illustrious videos liker long-time fan favourites Walking On a Dream, We Are The People and Half Mast, DEMOBAZA and Empire of The Sun are a natural fit – both interested in the celestial life and otherworldly concepts, conceived with immaculate style and deep humanistic approach to design and perception. Steele has been a long-time fan of the Bulgarian-born Sofia-based brand, as professed from the stage while in town on June the 16th.
Obviously, coming to Bulgaria was the right time to work on a tour wardrobe, consisting of some baggy Vivid, Light Force and Glow rousers, vibrant Sign and Moksha tops, Ascension hooded shawls, Shakti wrap cardigans, Monk gloves, Desolate ninja masks and Light Force shawl robes. As witnessed in Sofia and throughout Europe, this was not just a good choice, but a complete synergy between DEMOBAZA and Empire’s aesthetics, stunning scenography, kaleidoscopic visual show and kinetic live performance.
Steele and Littlemore have four critically acclaimed LPs , billions of streams and a whole plethora of successful remixes – including their lates EP Alive (Reimagined) EP. Their lates album Ask That God (2024) is the first in 8 years, balancing the existential with the fantasy and nostalgia on hit singles Changes, Cherry Blossom и Music On the Radio.
Other popular music stars spotted wearing the brand through the years have been Jisoo, Black Pink, Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Grimes, Kehlani, Tinashe, Ludmilla, Katy Perry, Gary Numan, Kate Von D, Justin Bieber and many more.
